Free
You hold:[hv=d=e&v=n&s=saxhaq987dxcaj9xx]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] And the bidding starts:2♠! - 3♥ - pass - 3NTpass - ???2♠ shows 6-10hcp with exactly 5♠ and 4+m Remark: you play leaping michaels with 4 or less losers, so this hand didn't really qualify for an immediate 4♣ bid (showing 55+♥-♣). 3♠ would be asking for a stopper. - Do you agree with 3♥?- What do you bid now?- What do you expect from partner's 3NT? Note: it's MP. :)
whereagles
I would pass and feel great about this one... even though I know pard has that lousy hand of the other thread :)
Finch
- Yes, I agree with 3H- I pass 3NT I might be persuaded 4C is right at IMPs, but I'd probably still pass. I may be biased by knowing the other hand!
Gerben42
I guess I have to bid 3♥ on this, yes. I pass 3NT.
hotShot
I agree with 3H, and I'll pass 3NT.Since I don't see a ♥ fit, i expect you to hold 2♠ stopper, since my aces prove that you need to exit at least once. Without ♠A you need at least 3♠ card for that. So there are 7+ minor cards left in your hand. We might well have a ♣ fit, but this is a source of tricks in NT too. With 2-3♠, 4-5♣, 1♥ (odds are ♥KJ is offside) and your ♦ stopper, I see 8-10 tricks comming up.
Codo
3 Heart was not perfect, but there is no alternative. Now I surely bid 4 Heart, because I know Pds hand. Else, 100 % pass.
Free
Here's what happened: [hv=d=w&v=n&n=saxhaq987dxcaj9xx&w=sqjxxxhtxdqtxxcqx&e=stxhjxxdakxxxxcxx&s=sk8xxhkxxdjxcktxx]399|300|Scoring: MP[/hv]2♠ - 3♥ - pass - 3NTpass - pass - pass LHO leads small ♦ to the K, small ♦ back to J, Q and ♣ away. Now LHO starts to think that I have a stopper, so he switches to ♥T! I take in dummy, let ♥7 run, some more ♥, ♣ and 2♠ for 3NT+2. We can't compare with other scores since it was at the beginning, but 6♥ is laydown! So everyone in 4♥+2 probably scored better. But apparently not many of the forum would reach 4♥ anyway. My reasoning for 3NT was that partner probably has a good 6 card ♥ with doubleton ♠. In a ♥ contract, it will start ♠ through my K, ♠ and a ruff, and partner will have to make the rest! 3NT would probably work out better if partner has a ♦ stop, but no way to ask that... With the North hand however, I thought 4♣ after the 3NT bid would be the majority's choice, but I was wrong there apparently :)
