inquiry
You didn't say, matchpoints or imps. At Matchpoints, I double, and I realize I may be hanging my partner for a good balancing 2S bid to "force" them one higher. But I want to protect my +110 for 2S or 3Clubs. Down one undoubled rates not to be so good. At Imps, I will pass, and will be happy if we beat it one. Ben

irg20
Sound like EW have 9 hearts between them with opener holding something like a 2533 shape (else he might pass 2S from N). This leaves N and W with something like 4036 and 4441. I'm passing ('cos I'm too chicken to double) and leading a small trump (assuming pd lets me). luke warm
east and south have about 23 hcp between them... west bid stayman... do they play garbage stayman? if not, i can't see pard having more than 10, 11 hcp at the most... assuming the x of 2C shows clubs, i'd guess pard is something like 5116 or 5044 or maybe even 4144.. if this is so, the ops own the hand... at imps pass, it's possible they'll be off one... at matchpoints the choices aren't as clearcut.. i think it's possible they're off one, maybe 2, but whatever defense pard has is under the strength.. it helps that my hand alone takes 2, maybe 3 tricks i actually have fair defensive values.. i think i'd pass even at matchpoints and lead the C10 (or 9)... it could be wrong tho.. double could be the big winner... i guess it all depends on what 2C showed
Poky
Partner has a distributional holding. Something like the 5125 pattern. Let's say [KQ8xx x ?x AQxxx]. Both finesses in S and C should be wrong so I would bid Pass. If partner reopens with a Dbl (holding something extra, say DA). I'll stay for it... Got I this one right?
