luke warm
when did the acbl tourneys start disallowing kibbers? i'd think that would not be kosher, from a rules standpoint
fifee
Why would it not be kosher? No specs would eliminate one possible source of unwanted chatter during a tourney.
uday
The tourneys are usually open to all. Sometimes, bothersome specs cause the TD to close the T.

If there's one thing that really bugs me during tournies is incessant chatter that the players engage in. nickfsydney

No specs would eliminate one possible source of unwanted chatter during a tourney. well even with kibs, the players can't see the kib chat... it's easy to prevent kibs from chatting to tourney or to the individual rooms... the 'kosher' remark was because i thought acbl had a rule that one could kib if one acted civilized... if that's the case, expel them on an individual basis if it must be done, not carte blanche but that's just my opinion, maybe the td has good reason If there's one thing that really bugs me during tournies is incessant chatter that the players engage in.who are they chatting with? certainly not kibs, it's impossible for a kib to talk to a player who is in a tourney... if you mean players talking to players at the same table, banning kibs won't stop that
andych
I would also support ACBL open to kibitzers. If there were a problem, probably we could prohibit kibitzer chat to table/lobby/tournament some day (which means kitbitzer could only chat to kibtizers at the same table) .... I understand kibitzer could do that now ..... ;) :P
pigpenz
usually what happens is when TD sets up tourney he/she hit the wrong buttons for allowing /disallowing kibbers....so usually if you msg them they can correct if they want to. You wouldnt believe the incessant drivel masquerading as humour from players that spews through the chat screen. nickfsydney
luke warm
i agree, i can't stand to kib those tourneys... it's bad enough to kib matches that allow that
sream
The obvious problem, of course, is the possibility of cheating. Send a quick screen shot via im at the beginning of the hand, and, well, you see my point. No slams missed because you finessed the wrong way. It would be impossible to detect as long as the cheaters kept their bidding natural.
jillybean
hot topic IMHO banning kibitzers will do precious little to stop cheating and puts a stop to an aspect of the game that is both enjoyable and beneficial. jb ;)
