asdfg2k
I am prototyping a program whereby you can point to a lin file and tell it what board to pull in from that file. It will then pull in the board and display the bidding and the hands, along with the play to all of the tricks recorded. At that point, anything can be changed. You can change the final contract, change the opening lead, change the play to a certain trick (or all of the tricks). Then you can output the information to a new lin file. Finally, you can open that .lin file with BBO's software so you can see how your changes affect the hand. My reason for doing this is so I can analyze a hand with GIB, making changes to the contract or play as I want. Obviously, it would be much more convenient (for me, anyway) if this capability were built into NetBridgeVu.exe, but I doubt that such a change is high on BBO's priority list. A screenshot of a quick and dirty GUI is attached (a friend printed it to a pdf for me). [No, it isn't...I couldn't figure out a way to post it....hmmmm...maybe later....if anybody is interested in seeing it.]....here it is: Screenshot Would anybody else have any interest in this if I were to throw it together? I haven't decided on a platform, although the easiest for me is Microsoft Access, as that is what I'm using to prototype it.

If you have netbridgevu (and those of us here do have it), and you have bridgebrowser you can already almost do the same thing. Bridgebrowser has a function that will call up netbridgevu and load the indicated hand into it. So if you find any hand, you can call it up and use bridgebrowser. Bridgebrowser will allow you to replay the hand in netbridgevu exactly as it was played at the table or to take off on anyline of play you want (double dummy). You can not, however, change the contract. However, you can find all the duplicates of the hand in question, undoubtably there will be lots and lots of other contracts, odds are one of them might be what you are interested in. As you note, netbridgevu has gib solver embedded into it. I am not sure this is what Fred had in mind for a use of this program when he distributed it. No doubt this is very nice however for those few we really like to study hands. Having said that, I have to admit that I would be interested in such a product. asdfg2k
Ben, can you deal with Microsoft Access? If so, I'll post it to the same location that the pdf file was at. It is not ready for prime time (the validate function hasn't been implemented, and it isn't compatible with FD, yet...scratch that last one, it is now compatible with alerts and explanations). But other than that it is functional.
Sigi_BC84
Then you can output the information to a new lin file. Finally, you can open that .lin file with BBO's software so you can see how your changes affect the hand. You can interface with GIB directly, without going via the BBO software. There's no need to record a separate LIN file and open it with the BBO client. Here is the information you need: http://www.gibware.com/engine.txt --Sigi
asdfg2k
I **WANT** to interface with BBO. It does most of the work. But thanks for the link.
