Main Club: matchpoints scoring

Not playing matchpoints in the main club i was curious as to where the results come from? Most of the time when I look the tables are 99.8% IMPS. With usually less than 10 tables playing matchpoints. Do the results come from older tournaments or are they matchpointed against tables that are playing IMP's ;)

they come from the .2% of the tables also playing matchpoints. That's why it sometimes takes days for a board to get played 16 times if playing matchpoints, and that's why so few tables are started with matchpoints. A self-perpetuating cycle.

Would seem they could pre load hands played in previous tournaments and use the results from there.

Someone might recognize the hand from the tournament, and they'd have an advantage.

 

This is how "Instant Matchpoint" tournaments are usually scored, but I think they try to use hands from tournaments played in a different part of the world to avoid the likelihood that someone has seen them. But this has the problem that the common system is different over there, so the results may not be typical for the transplanted location.

I tmust be quite difficult to get a matchpoint result from " a different part of the world" if you are playing at bbo.

After all, there are not many places on earth, where are bridge tournements but no BBO member involved.

for all the millions of hands out there on BBO you can fetch hands from all over the place. If someone recognizes one i dont think it will upset the applecart to much since its just the main club ;)
