p - 1 - p - 1NT

p - ?

Partners bid options:

1NT = 5-9 no other bid

1 = 4+

2 = 12+, 4+ or (9)10-12, (5)6+

2 = 9+, 4+

2NT = 3-6, 4+ (this hand can be in 1NT, the jump to 2NT is rather preemptive)

3 = 7-8, 4+

What will be your rebid?

I passed, but this was one down, average on board is about +100.

I think 2 is pretty clear at all forms of scoring. This hand really wants to play a suit. I'll look silly opposite 3=3=1=6's and the like, but if I catch a semblance of a fit , 2 will work out fine.

Are they more likely to balance over a suit, or over 1N?

I wouldn't want them to play 2, but still 2 looks pretty obvious.
