mcphee
[hv=s=s82hkq987dkq1084c5]133|100|[/hv] We will repeat the auction no intervention. imps 1C 1H2S 3D3N 4D4N 5N? Do you feel the 5-5 red hand has taken a poor action bidding over 4NT? I strongly think that 4S should be ace asking in this position and 4N simply showing nothing to add. Should 5NT here really be pick a slam as another poster suggested, or should it be invitational and a bid of 6C pick a slam? I find this hand rather interesting. I really do not feel that the red hand should give up on slam with the 2 strong suits even though they face a hand that does not fit really well. After all partner has made a j/s on a hand they could see was possibly not fitting well and should hold compensation for that very reason. luke warm
i don't know that 4nt would be a sign off here, but i guess it depends on agreements... 5nt seems invitational to me
whereagles
The hand is a misfit.. stop quickly and as low as you can. After 3NT, 4♦ already verges on fantasistic optimism. 4NT is the final warning. Now you can only bid what's in front of you. In this case pass is clear. Salokin
No more bid over 3NTbut over 4NT its really unsensible... If Partner doesnt want to sign off he could have bid 4♥ or 4♠ or 5♣,which are in my book all forward going. Salokin
Codo
There is just one excuse to bid beyond 3 NT: Pd made a jump shift, showing about 20+ HCPS or a gameforcing playing strength. But there is no excuse to bid on after 4 NT.
paulg
I think the intermediate cards make moving over 3NT sensible, especially as partner could have three diamonds, but I'd be passing 4NT. Paul
