Miron
[hv=d=e&v=n&s=sk10xxhjxxdakxcxxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP1♠ - p - p - 2♥p - ?[/hv] I bid pass. Do you think it makes sense or I just should invite? (2♥ are promissing 10-15). I have "wasted" spade values and empty clubs (all clubs honours will be behind partner's clubs). If partner has ♥AK, some ♣ and ♦Q he will accept, but this could be quite wrong. If he is missing ♥ honour, it will be (most probably) behind him. P_Marlowe
Hi, I would invite with 2S. With kind regardsMarlowe
zasanya
I would invite with 2 nt showing my ♠ stopper ( perhaps 2 ) ♥ support without ruffing value and at least 10 points
Gerben42
I would simply raise to 3♥. This shows a bit more than had I bid 1♠ 2♥ p 3♥
inquiry
Pass. Partner is bidding my values.. The more I have, the less he has... add to that, 1) I am 4333, we are not vul 2) The king of spades is not a good card for me even though it is well placed. To invite here will just teach your partner not to balance.
whereagles
Definitely worth an invite. 3NT needs as little as xAQxxxxxxxAxx opposite, and the likely spade lead/continuation. In fact, there might be a point in bidding a straight 3NT!!!
kenrexford
2NT for me also. I do not want to punish partner for balancing, but I also do not want to encourage partner to overbid on other hands.
jdonn
Add me to the 2NT bidders. That seems to me to clearly be the best shot at game. Passing is unthinkable as far as I'm concerned.
mikeh
2♥ does not deny a decent hand, so pass makes little sense. For those who say that bidding may discourage partner from balancing, I say that passing may drive partner nuts! What is he supposed to bid with Qx AQ10xx Jx KQxx as a mundane example? Some might double and then bid 2♥, but surely 2♥ is not irrational. Make it Jx AKxxxx Qx Kxx and surely we all bid 2♥? So bidding is clear and the question is what? 2N looks right on values and the ♠10, but understates the ♥ length. However, my ♥ length is not likely to be an asset in a trump contract, since I lack even a semblance of a ruffing value. Plus a 9 trick game is more probable than a 10 trick game. Finally, if partner has a weak hand, he may pass 2N which rates to be safer than 3♥, which is where 2♠ will drive us. So I choose 2N rather than 2♠. I would not consider 3♥: 3♥ says I like my hand for suit play: and I don't.

Well, ok. Nevermind. I didn't want to sound rude with my answer but 1♠ - p - p - 2♥and1♠ - p - p - 3♥ Are different things to me.The first is just a balancing overcallThe second shows about 12-15 and 6 cards in hearts. Hope it is clear now :-) Luis
cherdano
Luis, I think you mistakenly answered above that you would balance 3H with whereeagles' x AQxxxx xxx Axx hand? I think whereeagles point was that you miss game if you bid 2H with this hand and don't invite with advancer's hand of this thread.
