pbleighton
The first one is fine, as long as your partner gets the joke. First seat, favorable, IMPs, singleton spade, all argue for dramatic action. I'm not sure I would do this with a pickup pd. I hate the second 4H bid. You are way too strong, and the vulnerability is unfavorable. I would double, then bid hearts. You have an excellent hand. Involve partner. Edit: Opps - didn't see pd was passed. Not crazy about the bid at this vul, but it is not too bad. Any other vul, it is automatic. Peter
EricK
The first one is a bit silly first to speak. But you certainly picked the right pair to do it against. The second one is fine opposite a passed partner. I bet that not all your pre-empts work out as well as these ones did!
sceptic
actually the 7/4 seem to be better results than the 8 card suits, but I have had the odd disaster (which may come as no suprise)
han
I don't like the first 4H bid, it's too random for my taste. The second one seems ok.
P_Marlowe
Hi, I dont like the 1st, but you dont win,if you always bid / play by the book Similar the 2nd, the suit is to poor, for my taste and you are to strong,3H is probably enough, partner willraise most of the time, should 4h make. You did not ask about the dbl of 5D,so I wont comment it, just imaginesomeone switched KQ in hearts withAQ in clubs. With kind regardMarlowe
Mr. Dodgy
1. very light, but nice shape. i'd probably prefer pass, and compete later. 2. nice hand, too good for preempt imo. 1♥ or Double.
mr1303
Double on the second hand with a 7 card heart suit and a singleton spade is revolting. I can think of no nice words to say about it AT ALL. 4H looks a decent each-way bet. Might get hit and be expensive, but then it might not. 4H is a bit rich for me on a ten high suit, even at favourable vul I'm afraid. the saint
First one is a bid random for my taste, 3H is probably my limit even 1st NV. Second 4H is fine opp passed hand - roll the dice and see what happens. Good chance of missing game or letting them find 4S if you don't do it either. luis
I like them both.Keep preempting and they will mark you as an undesirable opponent :-)
Wackojack
1. 3♥ in this position. To dangerous to open 4 in case partner has goes to slam with good hand expecting pictures in hearts 2. 4♥ Since partner has passed, I believe you must bid as high as you can now. Make west have the last guess. North's double of 5♦ looks fine to me. Risk minimal, reward high. West guessed wrong by bidding 5♦. Time to swish the axe.
