Copying FD files

I'd like to copy from one full disclosure file to another. For example, I have a file of notrump systems that I'd like to copy into my comprehensive FD file for one of my partnerships.

I'm trying to do this using the "cut" and "paste" commands from the menu within FD.

Unfortunately, FD sits for a while and then gives me an error:

bidedit.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

---------

Is there another way to copy part of one FD file into another? In any case, it seems like this sort of copy shouldn't crash FD.

I'm trying to do this using the "cut" and "paste" commands from the menu within FD.

Cut and Paste works only within the same FD file.

As Rain has suggested open both the FD files as Notepad or Word.

Then select the sections that you want to copy from one FD and paste it to the other FD and save it.

I prefer Word as you can do a sort ( so you can paste anywhere) and also the Find and Replace feature can be used if you want to say, replace all the H symbol with the Heart !H symbol, etc.

NO - NO - NO

001CP1DP1H=

Then this sequence will be changed too - and you have no convention card anymore

Make a backup of the file with the interesting 1NT structure.

Delete all opening bids except 1NT.

Merge the file with the recipient file that needs the 1NT structure.

This is the correct solution and something i have done several times.

i do almost the same... i simply delete all but the part i want and 'save as' a new file name... then merge

Merging in notepad is easy. Try moving an entire relay structure up or down 1 or more steps! It's crazy because the structure for NT bids is different than for suit bids, and there's still no simple error handling which gives us the location (line number) of the problem  I thought it would've changed by now, since there's a new official update for all users... :(

Hi Ben

this is was I did with my CBS.bss, which you can find on My Webpage.

I run into one problem, when I merged this into the default BBO-advanced.

My bss file contains no differentiation of minor-opening bids of you are 1. 2. 3. or 4. seat, but default CC does.

After merging there are 3 different definitions for 1 first for 1/2 seat second for 3/4. seat and third mine for all seats. MergedFile

Which of the definitions will now be posted, when I upload this CC?

Many thanks

Al
