akwoo
The Sibelius violin concerto. But, sadly, I'm "listening" by reading the score and relying on my memory of how it sounds. Anyone have a recording recommendation? I tend to prefer interpretations that reveal the structure of the music rather than the mood of the performer. And reading the score has made me realize just how important the clarinettists and bassoonists are to this piece.

GreenMan
Someone posted an article about how Deadheads (those nomadic slackers who followed the Grateful Dead around on tour) were instrumental (heh) in popularizing vegetarianism and burritos in the U.S., so I'm in a Dead mood today. Power song in our household a few (sheesh 10 already?) years back. My kid, 2-yo at that time was singing that along with kindergarten tunes:

Phil
Listening to a lot of Ska these days just because it puts me in a good mood. Theres a local band called the Originalites thats just fantastic (see Youtube) and Skatalites. In addition, there's surf guitar concerts in my town, so I'm listening to old Link Wray, and Mermen. Lovera
It seems to me that at this point we are in the centre of musical labyrinth. Minotauro probably is sleeping and we can go around freely to discover its many rooms. mikeh
My wife recently surprised me by suggesting that we turn part of our basement (it is above grade on the downhill side of our home, so it is full daylight) into a sound room, and as part of that I made a big upgrade in my system. The result is that I have been reacquainting myself with vinyl to which I haven't listened for years, and have gone out and bought a lot of new and used vinyl as well. One musician to whom I rarely listened previously was Ray Brown. He has been the bassist as part of other groups but I didn't have any of the records he cut as the leader. Don't Forget the Blues is a revelation. I like to lean back and close my eyes and get lost in the sound, and this album will likely join the short list of reliable albums to allow that to happen whenever I put it on the turntable :D
