I'd pass. This hand has no redeeming features on offense. Compare it to Ax Axxxx xxxx Kx: now I overcall happily.

Passing may miss a game once in a while, but it will also avoid a lot of small or moderate losses and the occasional disaster. It is surprising how often your pass, on this hand type, is followed by a 1 bid on your left (and a silent sigh of relief on your part)

I pass

I am experimenting with the following idea regarding overcalls.

At unfavourable vulnerability I need a 7 loser hand to overcall at 1 level,6 loser hand to overcall at 2 level and so on.

At equal vul I overcall at 1 level with 8 loser hand, 2 level with 7 loser hand and so on.

At favourable vul I overcall at 1 level with 9 loser hand ,at 2 level with 8 loser hand .

Points do not matter but I need at least a Q in the suit.My P does not count on any defensive tricks with me.I employ roman jump overcalls on natural openings to show specific two suiters, 2nt jump overcall to show a 4 loser two suiter hand, 2 suiter simple overcalls on strong and capp.

This has worked well in practice for me.I would welcome any comments adverse or otherwise.
