Hi, since I'm working on a version of the Fantunes system that I might want to recommend to US players also, just a quick question on the GCC.

After 1 (2+) I would like to use the following 2 response:

5+4+ minors, invitational. Is this allowed as a raise under this rule?

5. SINGLE OR HIGHER JUMP SHIFTS AND/OR NOTRUMP BIDS AT THE TWO LEVEL OR HIGHER to indicate a raise or to force to game.

Rationale:

After 1, 1 is an artificial negative or some other things, Polish style (allowed)

Opener bids a major after that which may be 3 cards if 15 - 17 balanced (in PC the same but for 12 - 14 balanced).

Now after 1 you could show inv. with minors with a 2 bid, but in PC (and here) after 1 1 1 you are stuck.

Well, if you can claim that 2 is a "raise" of 1 in clubs, it would be ok under the rule you cite. If you showed a specific minor holding (say 4+/5+), it would be fine under this one:

GCC RESPONSES #6: JUMP RESPONSES TO AN OPENING BID OF ONE IN A SUIT that show one known suit with a minimum of five cards and one other known suit with a minimum of four cards.

I know that

a. 1D-3C showing the minors, INV but not forcing is legal

b. 1m-2S showing a raise of m is legal (this is my limit raise with marc)

it gets kind of tricky when it shows 2 suits, neither of which is the denomination named and neither of which has to have 5 cards in it. I don't think its strictly speaking GCC legal, but I doubt that anyone would object to it either....

I think Josh Donn and Kevin Bathurst used to use 1D(precision)-2S to show minors INV, but I have no idea if anyone ever told them if its actually legal.

I would just claim that this bid is a limit raise in opener's minor, who cares that no one but opener knows which suit is his minor....
