barmar
A friend started a table in the MBC, and reserved a seat for me. When I tried to sit there, I got stuck in "Waiting for response from server" and had to click the "Log out" button to get unstuck. When I logged back in, I got the popup saying that a seat is reserved for me, would I like to go there, and the same thing happened when I clicked "Yes". Finally he left the table, I became the host, and he was able to join me. I'm running the latest beta, 4.6.7.

uday
Andy, you had this problem when you logged in and the client asked you if you wanted to take your (reserved) seat? Was it at table Hueray?
sdoty
I've had a student report the same problem. Well, I assume it was the same -- bluehi told me that she wasn't able to sit in the seat reserved for her at a table (I don't remember the table host's name for sure -- I think it was jdonn, might have been BurnKryten). I don't know if she got the 'waiting for response from server' message or not. I know she wasn't using a beta, but I'm not sure what version the table host was using (he might have been using a beta version). It was a teaching table, and it happened last Saturday Mar-11. andych
Andy, you had this problem when you logged in and the client asked you if you wanted to take your (reserved) seat? Was it at table Hueray? The client didnt ask me anything to take to my reserved seat when login. Not sure at the time if reservation made... most likely yes. When I sit manually, 'seat has been reserved'.Yes it was table Hueray.... :)
DonBel
Same happened to me with 4.6.6 and 4.6.7, except was successful after logging off and back in again. Received prompt "seat reserved ... " and all was well.
fred
So far neither Uday nor I have been able to replicate this problem. I spent about half an hour trying several variations. As far as I can tell none of the client changes I have made in the last month or so rate to have an impact in this area. Uday seems to feel the same way about his server changes. However, enough reliable people have seen this happen that I believe the problem is real, but maybe it has "gone away" (at least for now) as a result of restarting the server last night. If anyone is inclined to do some experimenting in an attempt to replicate this problem and report the results I would appreciate it. If you do see it happen, please try to remember what you were doing on BBO just before you tried (and failed) to sit in a reserved seat. Also let me know which seat it was you were trying to sit in. Please post your findings here (as opposed to sending me e-mail). Thanks, Fred GitelmanBridge Base Inc.www.bridgebase.com
fred
We have learned that this is a server bug that has been around forever - it is not related to the new beta(s). It only happens when you have finished playing in a tournament, the tournament itself is still in the list of tournaments, and you try to sit in a reserved seat. Fixing this is on Uday's list of things to do. No need for anyone to do any further expermenting or posting.
