hrothgar
Following in Justin's footsteps, what are folks watching on the tube these days? (Alternatively, what are you renting via Netflix) For me, the big three are: Grey's AnatomyBattlestar GalacticaVeronica MarsCoupling (The British version): Its terrifying to realize that you'd fall for Jane

Rain
I have no tv service, and depend on BBO and netflix for home entertainment :) So far, after months of netflix + amazon purchase 1) Frasier (rewatch every season many times, you never have to wait for frasier) 2) Simpsons 3) Lost 4) Extreme makeover, home edition. 5) Rewatch everything in this list again. I really like Lost, but its worsened my fear of flying.

pclayton
Only thing I have TIVO'd is 24; but I always watch it with my oldest daughter, so the TIVO is not necessary :) . PGA Golf is always on during the weekends. You'd better not try to take the remote during any of the major tourneys. :) When Carnivale was on HBO I was friggin addicted to it. Hoping another netowrk picks it up. :(
hrothgar
Arrested Development (although I hear it's been cancelled :)) Latest rumor I heard was that showtime picked it up for 26 episodes next season :-) I still watch Gilmore Girls, though I agree its slipping somewhat. At the same time, it still has moments of inspiration. One fo the episodes recently concluded with a 5 minute montage showing the high (and low) points from a single Gilmore family dinner. Terrifying stuff. Well, I guess I'll have to wait and see, as I'll be renting them after the seasons are over, anyway. Not only will Adam not watch them, but we don't even get Showtime. I agree that the dinner scene in GG was FANTASTIC! Even Adam liked it, and he strongly dislikes GG. Giving Luke a daughter that's Rory v.2 is just so bad, though, and is painful! Sigi_BC84
As mentioned in the movie thread already:The Office (original BBC version)Six Feet Under (watching it on a regular basis off DVD with a few friends, we've just made it through 3rd season tonight; it's a great show I can really recommend, but watch it from the beginning, since the story and characters develop through the series). --Sigi

I have not dared yet to watch the US version. The British version is so brilliant that I'll probably get quite angry while watching somebody else's miserable attempt to jump the bandwagon. The "style of filming" and quite everything about that show is very different from the mainstream. If that's what Adam hates the show is probably just not the right thing for him. I suggest you watch it while he's playing golf (or whatever he enjoys doing ;-). NB the show has become a huge mainstream success in Great Britain, so don't assume something totally off-beat being on the verge of the unwatchable here. --Sigi
Echognome
The American version is quite similar to the original British version. The British version was better. 42
I very rarely watch TV, but when I do I like:Simpsons,Home improvement (Tim Allen),Emergency Room,I watched nearly all parts of Star Trek together with my son,Recently I started to watch the early parts of Gilmore Girls because my daughter told me it is a must,I liked the Bill Cosby Show, all about animals, (my favourites are tigers),soccer matches, especially Champions League, sometimes Motocross and Snookera lot about sciences, some talk shows, depends on the guests, here in Germany we have a kind of talk show where a psychologist makes a short "therapy session", solving a problem. I like figuring out what the real problem might be when they start.

macaw
We don't watch TV - turned it off years ago as advertising was too intrusive and I absolutely couldn't stand the thought of seeing shrub's face in my livingroom. I am addicted to a couple of old shows which we purchased on DVD, and I can watch them over and over again: SoapBabylon 5 Lord of the Rings movies (best movies ever made, in my opinion) A show that isn't out on DVD yet, but I still have hopes for is Twin Peaks. I am a David Lynch fan. We watched "Mulholland Drive" and liked it so much we purchased it from amazon.com. We also just watched another movie, a collaboration between David Lynch and Disney (that, in and of itself, is so warped we had to watch the movie), called "Straight Story." Classic.
Al_U_Card
As much as I liked Soap, (Danny Dallas and Jethro Bodine of the Beverley Hillbillies had a lot in common) my favourite show is "Le coeur a ses raisons" which is a parody of soap operas (The heart has its reasons) which makes you laugh 'til your sides hurt. I don't know if it will ever be translated but my recent favorite shtik involves Bret (one of three "twins" all played by the brilliant Marc Labreche) who is still trying to get used to his prosthetic arms (they are about 6 ft. long each). You can imagine the mayhem......
