AceOfHeart
Ya, there is not enough space in the other section, so much so that i see people listing the conventions they play over their name and email. Actually i find the email function quite redundant B)....unless you want to recieve unsolicited spam.
Walddk
As you probably know, it's all optional. Don't put your e-mail address there if you don't want others to see it. Those of us who don't mind (I for one find it quite useful) have the option of inserting it. As to more space under Other Information, I think there is plenty. There is no need to write a novel, and lots of conventions can be abbreviated. Besides, the profile is not supposed to be a comprehensive convention card. We have other tools for that. Miron
I also think the convention section could be larger (is there any reason to have it small?).
asdfg2k
You may have other tools for that, but in the vast majority of games, both for purposes of seeing what your partner prefers and for purposes of seeing what the opps are playing - quickly - the profile is the best tool. I would support tripling the size, although if doubled it might be enough for most. Right now it is just a bit short of wonderful and a fair bit short of great. pbleighton
Very few opps I play against in the Main Lobby use a convention card (I play only with a regular pd, use a cc, and our profiles direct the opps to look at our cc). I think a LOT more space in Other would be useful. Peter
hrothgar
Quick comment here: Anyone recall all the complaints about long delays for long in times, scaling issues, and the like which were discussed on the forums 12 monthes back? Increasing the size of the profiles (presumably) increases the amount of infrmation that the BBO server needs to download to clients... I have a std 2/1 cc that i offer to post with every new p/u pard. When they accept or alter it, I save under their name so that it is there for the next time..... asdfg2k
Richard, if increasing the profile size indeed causes login times to elongate, I think the size of the profile is probably just a tad too small, and I would encourage increases in small amounts to see if the performance penalty becomes an issue. However, if it isn't a perf issue, do you join in the chorus for increasing its size?
Sigi_BC84
I also want (a lot) more space in the profile. The email line should go, hardly anybody uses it and you can ask people for their email address if you want to contact them. This absolutely does not have to appear on the profile. Most people use the email line for something else, like giving their lead preferences or location information. Regarding login times: I have broadband so what do I care ;-). Seriously, why is the entire plethora of profiles downloaded to the local machine on login? Just defer that until the user is actually displaying a given profile. Cache the profile data on the BBO server and deliver it to clients on demand (as opposed to on login). You can deliver data critical to filtering (country, level, etc.) on login, but these are a bunch of numbers which fly across the wire in no time. A good profile IMHO would look like: Name:Systems:Carding: this should be structured, so users would check/select items on a list, free-form text should be optionalConventions:Remarks: ... with a lot more space than at present for Conventions and Remarks (one could add scroll bars as to keep the profile window small, but the window could be a bit larger than at the moment as well). --Sigi

The profile is still too small...(I will review the topic although I don't see any issues there, actually.) --Sigi
