I think 2 should be forcing here. Obviously (?), we were always planning to pull clubs to hearts, so 2 shows a strong hand. Partner's double showed some values, so I can't see how the bidding should stop at 2, and I have good use for additional space with this pattern.

Famous last words. Can anybody imagine 2 passed out here?

I don't understand 3H. Surely that shows an absolutely enormous hand? 2H shows a hand that we thought was too good to overcall 1H, and isn't that exactly what we've got?

Yes, I can.

I have a hard time constructing

a hand, I would pass, but then

some people double holding

opening strength with 5-4 in

the mayors.

Pass, Pass, RHO opens 1♦. You choose to double.

I prefer 1 over Double.

LHO bids 2♣, natural. Pard doubles (penalty by agreement), RHO passes.

Whats your call?

2 showing a big hand with .

Well but they would play 2 if partner bids it, right? So how can't the play 2X if partner doubles it?

Unless you have the agreement that puling 2 to 2 doesn't show a big hand, I don't think you can pull here without showing a big hand.

Hi,

maybe they would play 2CX, maybe not.

And then, what does "big" hand mean?

What is your max. strength for a 1 level

overcall 15,16,17 HCP?

Sry, I will bid 3H, which is 100% forcing,

I dont think we have slam, and if we have,

the room between 3H and 4H is enough to

find out, ... I know what suit I would like to

have as trump suit.

With kind regards

I bid 4, on similar reasoning as Gonzalo. I really don't know the difference between 3 and 4, but I don't agree that 2 should be forcing. I think 2 shows a weak, shapely takeout double; more like: QJxx, AKTxx, x, xxx.

Mr pard passed 4 with: Jx, Jxxx, xxx, AKJx. Perhaps this isn't the easiest slam to get to, but 3 should get you a 4 cue, which probably gets you to 6.

I think in terms of playing strength this is stronger than usual. For instance, we make game opposite Qx of spades, a doubleton heart, and out. Partner's club values seem to be good since that is our doubleton (with a stiff club I'd just bid 2H). That will be what I tell partner as I go set in 4H anyways B)

:) Why isn't Pass a choice? True, if we have a game, then we have to hold them to four tricks, but nobody thinks we have a game for sure. If no game, then holding them to 5 or 6 tricks will be an excellent result.
