cherdano
A couple of style thoughts for standard FD files, add "in my opinion" to all of the points below. 1. Consistent spelling/capitalization is important. This may sound trivial, but I think it helps recognizing the information of the FD blurb quickly. (It also helps managing the file with search-and-replace etc.) 2. No redundance: Never explain something in the explanation text that is already defined via one of the checkboxes/disposition/etc. I.e. never write 'forcing' in the explanation (that's part of the disposition), or 'natural' (that's already indicated by not checking the 'artificial' checkbox).Otherwise, one never knows where to look first to find out whether, say, a bid is forcing. Or when it doesn't say "natural", but artificial is unchecked, you are suddenly irritated -- was the checkbox of the comment forgotten? 3. Try to never leave the disposition as "No Agreement". It is irritating. 4. Don't describe style things like preempts. If an enterprising junior agrees to play BBO advanced, he won't suddenly make sound preempts just because the file claims vulnerable preempts are sound. Similarly, a conservative player won't suddenly make undisciplined preempts where the file says so. Claiming otherwise would rather result in MI than be helpful. Does this all make sense?
