han
3SX is game, which other game would you like to get to? (I wouldn't mind stopping below 4S with the EW hands, and NS have no game as far as I can see.) South bid her hand 3 times, at least once too many. mikeh
I'm sorry: I must be missing something here: EW are in 3♠ doubled, making an overtrick and you want EW to bid game? :P I think the NS auction stinks. I can live with 2♥ if NS don't play support doubles, but the 3♦ is bad and the double obscene. I guess it is South, not North, at whom I am upset B) As for ew reaching game, the only hope (for me) would be had west overcalled 1♠, but I think I'd like to swap the ♠7 for the ♠9 before doing so: I like texture in my four card overcalls and this is just too light for me, but it is close. If west overcalls, then East may leap to game. I would not be the least worried about missing a game in which we have perfect fits and on which we still require a 3-2 trump split, with the K onside, and no early ♣ ruff (which might be two ♣ ruffs with a trump or two still to lose). Give N KJ9x Q10xxx xxx x and south x Jxx AKQxx Axxx and they might still bid the same way. Now I doubt that you'd be posting, asking how to reach game :D
sceptic
ok I mean if not x'd would it be sensible to bid 4 spades (sorry for bad wording) but I think you answered my question anyway mike
