Fluffy
By agreement 0445 are opened 1♣, so they are a bit out of the picture. S - N1♦-1♠2♣-2♥3♥-3♠3NT
cherdano
To me 3♠ is choice of games, in the context of knowing partner will have only a singleton or a void of support. 3N says opener prefers 3N, nothing else. Of course this has to do with the number of spades, but also with the type of honors held, etc. Arend
HeartA
0 or 1 spade. I voted for 1.
Guest Jlall
0 would be typical, though there are definitely hands where 1 is possible.
Fluffy
When I found this problem I bid 3♠ with a very strong 5233 in order to find if I should play 6♦ or 6NT, I missunderstood my partner and finished on a stupid 4-3 fit where 6NT was laydown. pclayton
Gonzo: I would think 4N quant and 5N pickaslam would be options with your hand. In answer to your question, 0 or 1 spades are possible I think. 3H may just be a hand that wants you to play NT.
han
0-4-5-4 is most likely in my style, but remember that I frequently rebid 1NT with 1-4-4-4's. I know that you (=Fluffy) dislike this so then 1-4-4-4 is definitely an option. As Arend notes, opener is not forced to bid 4S with that shape if his honors suggest notrump.
