bridgeboy
Vul against not, Matchpoints You hold: AT9xxKxAxxAJx RHO opens 2H (H and minor, 5+ - 4+) Rightly or wrongly, You overcall 2S .. 2nt anyone? LHO tries 2NT (asking for minor) pard bids 3S, your bid? Any comments greatly appreciated.
awm
I'll try 3NT. This is a pretty good hand and bidding on to game seems reasonable. However, it's quite possible that 3NT is best, especially if (as it sounds like from the 2NT call) LHO doesn't have very many hearts. Partner is still involved in the auction and is welcome to correct to 4♠ if his hand merits it. I'm not that afraid of the minors, given that: (1) LHO doesn't know which to lead (2) If they have only an 8-card minor fit I can hold up two rounds (3) I have a lot of aces and thus may be able to cash out for nine tricks (say partner has ♠KJxx + ♥A and out). pbleighton
3NT, but 4S is quite reasonable. Peter
MickyB
Ok, I'm going out on a limb and passing. Partner had several ways to show spade support. For me, this is the weakest.
luis
I would have bid 2NT instead of 2♠ in the first round. Now if pd wants to invite in spades he can bid 3♥, with some values he can also double 2NT, 3♠ should be weakish in this context just to prevent them from finding a minor suit fit and compete to 4♣. For example I think that something likeJxxx, Jxxx, xx, xxx is a clear 3♠ bid, you want to compete to 3♠, you don't want them to find a 4♦ contract NV and put you in a hard decision at MPs.So it's ean easy pass from me. han
Hard to disagree with the passers. I do prefer 2S over 2NT.
benlessard
Its an Unusual VS unusual type auction. So it depend on the method. An easy and efficient method. pass and X penaltyX = show cards and at least 3 in each minorscheaper Cue= H weak or GF2nd cue = S weak or GF 3h = H inv3s = S inv. easy and efficient method. But since you wont play in ♥. The method become 3c GF with half a stop 3d GF without H stopper3h weak or GF s raise3s INV s raise
HeartA
3NT.
Fluffy
I would had doubled first, and my bid now would depend on agreements for overcall a weak 2, I have very minimum for my agreements and would quickly pass 3♠.
Guest Jlall
I would pass. Partner didn't cue so has less than a good 9, I have a balanced hand, spades are breaking badly, it's MP, this one isn't really close for me. I would expect partner to raise with 3 spades and a ruffing value and a 6 or 7 count every day of the week.
ArtK78
I agree with the 2S call on a hand with all controls and no source of tricks. If partner cannot bid a game, I don't have enough to bid it myself. I pass.
