Suggestion for upcoming versions

At the moment moving the cursor over the name of a player in a vugraph event usually gives no information at all (unless the vugraph operator enters some). I suggest to connect an online database (how about the one of the World Bridge Federation WBF Homepage ?) with these names. The vugraph operator would then have to make a connection between the player's name used for the vugraph transmission and his/her database entry.

This could be automized in the software, so the vugraph operator would not need extra time for it. All one has to do then is to make sure that players have standardized names for vugraph transmissions (that for example a player like Daniela von Arnim is always refered to as "DArnim" and not as "DArnim" once and "DvArnim" at another time).

Looks like a good idea I think. But take care - Vugraph operator still needs to enter the names - else there is no link to the personal info. There is also the ordinary problem about spelling names.

I think the way will be to ask organizers to submit the names corresponding to exact match in WBF database.

Operators don't start completely unprepared (they shouldn't at least ;) ). All an operator would need is the name under which the player is stored within in the internal BBO Database. Or perhaps not even that. He or she could enter the real name of the player, and the database would make the connection itself.

Also, WBF database is not standardized either. Once looked at the argentine players list, spotted at least 10 mistakes (typos, same people appearing twice with slightly different names, etc).

Send an e-mail to the provided address (people@.....), last time I checked it was not corrected (has been a while since that, though)
