Miron
[hv=s=s643hj9874daq7c94]133|100|[/hv] 1♦ - 1♠ - ? What will be your bid? Partner told my: another bid you don't have. So I really want to know, if I am bidding that bad.

luis
Double, light but I might have a terrible problem in the next round so do I owe pd a Jack or 2 ? Not a problem, do I owe him some clubs? Not really. Double is fine. Luis
pbleighton
Double, hearts are weak but I have 5 and I only promise 4. Peter
han
Double, I'm not sure what Luis is rambling about, this is not too light at all imo. :P
mike777
hmm this must be a "bizzarro world" posting, I think x is fine and Luis of all people is worried about x being lightish :P.
luis
I really don't like the 3 small spades, hate that holding. But X anyway.

awm
I like pass here; it's unlikely to end the auction. If I double and partner bids 2♣ or 1NT, what's my next call? It seems like bidding 2♥ could be either great or a disaster... If I pass and partner balances with a double, I'm happy to have found hearts (the 5-3 fit is hard to find if I start with double). If partner passes it out, then opponents have at most 7 spades and possibly 6 between them, so this could be a good spot. If partner balances with 2♣ then I know partner won't have a heart fit and I can happily correct to diamonds.
Guest Jlall
X seems like a no brainer.
pclayton
♠xxx is bad, but everything else is fine. My regular pard has a real bad habit of taking his personal biases too far, especially in bidding. Over the last month I've seen: A 19 count 4333 opened 1N ("I hate 4 triple 3's"). Result: +180 when the 7 count passed. A 13 count 4333 passed with an ace and 2 kings. Result: 6N -1 (actually unlucky) with the following auction: Pass (?) - 1♦ - 1♠ - 2N - 6N (?). Those that seize up whenever then hold xxx in the opponents suit are doing so without looking in the full context of the hand. Pard can (and should) downgrade his own honors in the slot, without you compensating.
han
I like pass here; it's unlikely to end the auction. If I double and partner bids 2♣ or 1NT, what's my next call? It seems like bidding 2♥ could be either great or a disaster... If I double and partner bids 2C then I bid 2D, I really don't see the problem. If the auction had gone 1D-1H-2C then I would bid 2D and feel good about it, what's the difference? If I double and partner bids 1NT then I pass, just as I would have over 1D-1H-1NT. This doesn't both me much either. If I pass and it goes 2S-p-p then I will have a much harder problem.

But seriously, last time you said that you were going to be a lot less aggressive with xxx in their suits (I apologize if I'm phrasing it incorrectly), and you were going to keep track of your results. Do you have enough data already to say something interesting about this?

Gerben42
Minimum for the bid but X clearly marks the spot. I would not criticize pass either. However I would criticize: 1NT (no stopper)2♦ (no fit)2♥ (no good suit, even if 2♥ is not forcing)

Gerben42
Wow, and I thought my partner was going far when he passed a 4333 12 count with an ace and AQ in the four-card suit Now that I can understand, it can be right to pass those hands some times. After all, you have only 12 HCP, 4 controls and 8 Zar shape points for a total of 24 Zar. ;)
