Well.

When you play online anything can happen - and it did!

North asked for major - south - didnt have any.

Opps warned us by the double of 2.

I thought - now that north freely bids 2NT - could show a stopper.

Well Qx - is a kind of stopper - right.

But with maximum - I wasn't sure where to play as I have small .

That's why I bid 3 -

asking - do you have good stopper?

If not - bid your major 3 or 4 level up to you.

I know - its upon agreements etc.

But pass - I think is not acceptable.

Only 2 down - but still a bad bad board.

How about you?

----

PS:

Freebid --- does that mean that 1 - (2) - 3 is alowed to pass.

I was told - 1 and 3 level is forcing - but maybe NFB - is not same??

Don't I have anything else to do?

No - holidays until June 1st. - Morning in Bangkok,

couldn't sleep.

North should pass 1N. His hand is not worth an invite.

3D is an excellent bid, but only with a partner who will understand it. With a random partner, I'm not sure if I would try it. Still it is a "bridge" bid. Pass is obviously silly, 3D says that south has doubts about NT.

I agree with Justin here: North should pass. 3 from South is just a result of the poor start of the auction, and imo it's not even a bad bid!

How can you get a decent auction if you fail to start it right? I mean, you can open 2 on a 17 count balanced hand and claim partner made a judgement mistake when you end up in 3NT-2 when he only has 4HCP... ;) Subsequent bidding is based on the beginning of the auction. Fail there and the rest is unimportant.

Wow. I might have upgraded south's hand to an 18 count despite the 4333 shape (its close), but north's hand is not close to good enough to invite (its a clear pass of 1N), and yes 3D means what you think it means, assuming the x showed diamonds...

Why in the heck did North even bid?? with his hand playing 15-17 NT I would PASS ;)

BUT after the 2NT I would NOT bid 3 but 3NT -- taking the 2NT call as "P please bid 3 if you have a maximum 1NT --- which I have :P B)

I voted "both" to blame -- but I guess it's more like 90% North :)

I think that North should not say: 1NT, 2NT, pass ;)

1NT: He has not enough points for invite

2NT: He does not have diamond stopper (Qx...)

pass: partner surely does not want to play 3 (after double on 2)

North is quilty, sentenced for 5 boards :o

Excellent bidding by South, North lost his mind (again).

Final score after 5 boards:

North guilty: 5x

South guilty: 1x

Agree :o

I hope I will never play in front of that "north" ;)

I can't understand why anyone is keeping score here. You would NEVER do this to any of your partners (right?), so why help Helmer doing that?

Asking bridge questions is fine, but asking for help to win a fight should be off-topic here.

South  West  North  East

1 NT    pass  2♣    pass

2♦      dbl    ???

Question for the experts:

You play with another expert and have not other agreements then "standard American" or SAYC.

What do following bis mean for you:

REDBL

Pass

2NT

3D

...and 2H/2S if you want

Thanks,

Koen
