Handling of "enemies"

Recommended Posts

ok, maybe I'm the only one who's had this problem, but I think there should be a way to address this problem in the software:

For whatever reason (the person might be a player with whom you were not compatible, or simply an unpleasant partner), you mark someone as an "enemy". Some time goes by, and you forget that you had a bad experience with this particular person. Then one day, this person invites you to a tournament or team game. The profile information that is displayed to you contains all the relevant information...except it doesn't disclose that you've designated him an "enemy". Once the game starts, and you see that little symbol next to his name, it's too late...and now you're booked for another 8 or 12 boards with this person with whom you know you're going to have a less than enjoyable time.

Is there any way to get this information displayed when somebody initially invites you to a tourn/team game, rather than have it revealed after the fact?

Dittoes, DrTodd...macaw, I know about the "ignore chat from enemies" feature. I'm referring to a situation where, for example, I'm on the "Partnership Desk" for a tournament. A player whom I've marked as an enemy just sends me an invite--no chat beforehand, no IM asking, "Would you like to play in this event?". Just a cold invite...in such cases, I would really like to be able to be able to see if I have any notes or previously recorded "friend/enemy" designation for the person.

As we know, the BBO software is kind of prissy on these matters. The popup box for invitations takes focus away from anything else you're doing on BBO at that point. One has to acknowledge the invitation somehow, by either accepting or declining, before the software will let you resume other activities. I understand the reason for this--it's obviously desirable to give the person the courtesy of an acceptance or refusal in a timely manner. But by the same token, I'd like the ability to have all the information possible to make an informed decision about whether or not to accept an invite.

While we're on the topic: A related feature I'd like to see is some sort of ability to temporarily supress the "ignore chat from enemies" feature, for the time while an enemy is one's opponent at a tournament. Sometimes, the little alert chat box is too small for full disclosure of the meanings of conventional calls, and it becomes necessary to briefly chat with opponents. If I have "ignore chat from enemies" feature on, I'm unable to get this information, unless I redefine the player as neutral. Then I have to remember to go and designate them as an enemy again as soon as the round is over.
