microcap
I can't figure out why the software sometimes automatically terminates team matches for substitutions and sometimes doesn't seem to. inquiry
I can't figure out why the software sometimes automatically terminates team matches for substitutions and sometimes doesn't seem to. What is the algorithm? Thanks!! :) It is quite simple, really... There are three ways to terminate.. 1) Each team match comes with a built in clock. Wait long enough (even if still playing) it will stop. I don't know the legnth of time, but you can easily play 28 boards without tripping it up I think 2) The host can cancel it (as can any yellow). 3) If two players withdraw from the match, it is killed. I think maybe if one withdraws and another joins before the second withdraws, the match is still alive. Note a disconnection is not a withdrawal. To withdraw, you have to push the call TD button and then choose withdraw from this match.
microcap
So even if the first withdrawal has been replaced, the second one will trigger termination? And even if there are 2 withdrawals, it strikes me there should be some time limit---I had two withdraw quickly (for no good reason I might add) and could have replaced them easily had I had the time.

Remember, you can leave a game by asking to be replaced, which is not the same thing as a withdrawal. IF you are playing and have to go... message the host, tell them, and quietly disconnect if you can't wait.. don't push the withdraw button. Micro, if you having people withdraw from your event like this, you need to evaluate why they would do this, and as host, try to prevent similar circumstances from happening in the future. microcap
Ben--- Two things: First, I would be willing to state that 99% of BBO team match players (myself included until now) do not understand the distinction between withdrawing, being excused, disconnecting, etc.... Second, from my experience, 98% of the withdrawals are from players who are mad at pick-up partners. 2% are from other issues. I don't have this problem regularly--I just couldnt figure out why sometimes it would terminate and sometimes not. Now I know!
