delayed chat for tourney players

From time to time, twice yesterday, I have had the following happen:

 

I am on-line.

A message appears: "Ken, would you like to play in the 5:00 tourney?"

I click on the message to reply.

I see: "xxx is at tourney yyy, private chat is forbidden."

 

I perhaps solve this by logging on later and sending a message. Yesterday one of the players was online at 10 and I noted that I could not have played at 5, but of course it was now after 5 anyway. The other player was not online. She was asking about a game that is still in the future so maybe I can still get to her. Of course players could help by posting their email addresses on the line where it says "email address", but many don't. If you provided more room where they write out their system then they could use the email line for its proper purpose, but that's another story.

 

Perhaps the software could allow a delayed mail delivery after the current tourney is completed? Or perhaps I just do not know he correct way to do this.
