I prefer sound responses, so with 5-4, I would sometimes do the GF jump with 18+ (and the nonforce therefore 12-17 or bad 18). Also, with strong 5422 and values in doubletons, I'd prefer a NT rebid, especially if you have the spade suit well stopped. 4♣ definitely splinter with 4card support (and trumps that CAN be spared for ruffing, i.e. not AKQx B)) 5♣ EKC makes sense, but you'd need a monster hand for this, because partner might have a ton of club values, meaning you're already way over the last makeable contract.
