andych
I have a FD conv card prepared at home. It could be opened and the details shown. When I copy the conv card to another PC. The conv card opens but is empty (i.e. nothing defined for any bid/ summary is blank /etc). Both PC has BBO 4.6.0 installed. The conv card is 5KB. Opening it with notepad the conv card is not empty. :) :D

Who says FD wasnt heuristic! Sorry andy, bridge sux.
uday
I suggest you send a copy of the cc in question to fred@ and reference this thread.
Free
I had a similar problem this weekend at my home computer. When I copied the file to another directory and opened it, nothing was shown. However, when I clicked 'file - open' it worked. When I opened another file (by double click) I got the exact same 'problem'. This is a pretty old P3-450MHz with windows 98, so this might be the problem ;) With my own PC I don't have any problems. fred
No need. Please send me a copy of the file an e-mail attachment. But before you do that, try deleting this file: c:\bridge base online\bidedit.ini and see if that makes a difference. If that solves the problem then don't bother sending me the FD file. MickyB
Is it possible that you may have not had "we open" checked?
Dwingo
Is it possible that you may have not had "we open" checked? This is a very likely cause. It had me fooled a few times. A few times I had a blank one, I clicked on File menu, then Open and opened the file and all was OK.
andych
Thanks all for help. Instead of double clicking the file, I start bidedit.Click File - openCould see the opening bids and pop up: File not found: conventions\conventions_bergen_all.bssClick ok on the pop up and the conv card retruns to blankPop up error opening file Seems I missed something in my C:\bridge base online\conventions, which is empty. Will try to reinstall BBO. Previously I install 4.6.0 by update. Not remember the prior version before 4.6.0. BTW I still have not figured out how to enter defensive bidding? ;) ;)
Dwingo
I tried this again and I can confirm this. Double clicking on a FD file ( Offline FD) turns up a blank FD display, even though there is contents in it. It probably opens up a New FD file, bcos the blue header has the caption Untitled bidding system. Then you click, File / Open then point to the location of the file and everything is on display. Not sure why this happens, hopefully Fred will be able to tell us. But nothing is lost as we know how to get to it. I am on FD version 1.2.2. Some people may be struggling with this as they will be lost that they can't see anything in the file.
fred
I someone can send me a copy of one of the files that is causing this problem I will investigate. Please send it as an e-mail attachment to fred@bridgebase.com Thanks, Fred GitelmanBridge Base Inc.www.bridgebase.com
Dwingo
This happens with all the FD files. It is not specific to a particular file. If I try to open a FD file by double clicking a fFD file from the File list of Windows Explorer or from My Computer, it does not return the file. Maybe the problem is with my Windows Explorer. I am on Win 98. The file opens by clicking File, Open and pointing to the file location.
fred
Thanks, but it will still be helpful for me to have one of these files! Fred GitelmanBridge Base Inc.www.bridgebase.com

Both in Windows Explorer. Have you forgotten to tell Windows always to open 'bss' files with Bidedit?
