petermooney
I have searched all over and cannot find an idiots guide to using the new convention card.I understand that it is work in progress but I would like to use it.Currently my crib sheet is based on the BBO/ACBL Learn to Play Bridge programs. However I am getting some stick as these are quite conservative when compared with most peoples bidding.Ideally I would like to print out the new card although I guess that it is in a very large tree format. At the moment it is like peering through a letter box!Any help on how to use the the new Convention card would be very much appreciated. Thanks,Peter

If your first shot is not perfect then you have learned more. The whole thing is very simple and logic. Make a copy of a default card and modify that. You will quickly grab the ideas. You can print from your editor the whole structure. I wonder why - I have had no printer connected for the last 5 years now.

Unless you are printing the Notepad or Word version of the FD file
Finch
You can print from your editor the whole structure. I wonder why - I have had no printer connected for the last 5 years now. OK, a bit off-topic, but if you don't have a printer I assume you hand-write rude letters to the bank/building society/utility company/train company, and that you have to copy down by hand Richard Pavlicek's bi-monthly play problems to think about when away from the computer. Those are two of the three main (non-work) reasons that I have a printer. The other is for the magazine I edit, but it's possible you don't do that. Unless you are printing the Notepad or Word version of the FD fileI have no need printing anything. If I need to find specific features I go into there in FD or simply open FD-file using WORDPAD with and excellent search/replace function. Thats very simple. For Frances. No I don't edit magazines and normally I don't write rude letters for anybody. Those I communicate with MUST be able to communicate electronically - computer/phone/Messenger. Else no communication possible - simple as that. Denmark is rapidly converting into that kind of virtual society these years - and I support so very much and try to take advantage from that too of course. inquiry
Well I sure wish we could print something. With the format so standardized, I think some nice and friendly computer programmers amoung us could write us a little utility to turn.... *00{Precision(Forum)}=NYYYYYYSimplified Precison a la Wei. slothy
Well I sure wish we could print something. With the format so standardized, I think some [nice and friendly deleted by slothy :) ] computer programmers amoung us could write us a little utility to turn.... i asked about the full syntax in dis forum coz i was thinking of writing a PHP parser running behind an XML XSLT engine to parse the FD files and display a more visual representation of bidding sequences. I AM HOOKED!! (Got the backbone sorta done but getting stuck on some forks in the tree  )Just got to finish all the other 324 things i got on the back-burner... hee hee Slothy (FD Freak)
