P_Marlowe
Hi, Pass. I dont think 2H is a good idea, partner will never buy, that you are 6-5. Marlowe
Free
Easy 2♥: V vs NV, usually this already shows 5-5...
pbleighton
"Pass. I dont think 2H is a good idea, partner will never buy, that you are 6-5." Well, yes, but how will you communicate 6-5 if you pass? Peter
mike777
Hopefully we are playing a version where 2D means D and not the majors. ;) Easy, 2D, weak Vul vs NV this shows great D suit or hand with a lot of shape, often a second decent suit. Partner can bid 2nt if they want to know more.
han
Clear Muiderberg opener, this would be a nasty hand playing weak 2's.
whereagles
Clear Muiderberg opener, this would be a nasty hand playing weak 2's. Tough hand for weak 2s? Not really. Open 2♥ and butt-in in diamonds later.

Well, yes, but how will you communicate 6-5 if you pass? Peter Via a 2-suited overcall. Marlowe PS: I missed the vulnerability, red vs. green2H is not that bad, but I trefer pass anyway,... I would bid 2H, if this would promise 5-5,because of the vulnerability, certainly a reasonable agreement .
pbleighton
"Via a 2-suited overcall" Huh? You pass, then come back in, which shows more shape? Do I understand you correctly? Peter
P_Marlowe
"Via a 2-suited overcall" Huh? You pass, then come back in, which shows more shape? Do I understand you correctly? Peter Yes, that was my plan. There has to be a reason / a flaw, why one does not open a direct 2-suiter, when a 2-suited opening is available. Kalvan14
If you have a Mujderberg option, it's fine.Otherwise, better to pass.

mcphee
Looks like a no brainer to me, 2H tells it. I am able to bid D later freely to indicate more shape if the opponents compete.
mr1303
I would open this a Muiderberg 2H every day of the week. This is almost textbook.
Guest Jlall
2H. I'm glad I play these methods (on this hand).

Peter I'd pass first as well...yes, passing then making a 2 suited bid indicates 5-6 for me. However, my Muiderberg 2s aren't *ahem* always 5-5 even at this vul, if they were it would be an obvious 2♥ opener.
Gerben42
At these colours, happy to have this bid! 2♥ BTW you can remove that "daily updates" part in your profile Justin. I don't have that in there. Very lofty to try though... <updated mine 2day>
kgr
On this hand you can make 5D. I didn't want to proove anything. I was just wondering if 2H was the correct opening given the shape.2H was passed around. (partner has an opening hand, 2 card H and some diamonds.) P_Marlowe
On this hand you can make 5D. <snip> Hi, that is the problem, if your partner needs to take a 5-4 shape with minimum values into account he wont make a move, ... even if he has 3 card support for hearts. With 2 hearts and 4 diamonds, 3 clubs, why should partner risk the 3 level? The 5 level is a long way to go. If you upgrade the requirement for a 2H bid, than the 2H bid would be perfect.Lots of the 2H bidders on this thread assumeimplicit, that 2H promises 5-5.
