Non-descriptive rebid

Recommended Posts

1 - 2

4 - ?[/hv]

You are playing a natural system with 5 card majors and a strong NT. Partner opens 1 and rebids 4 showing a big hand as 2 and 3 would both be non-forcing. So you make another move? If so, what?

Note: This is an opponent's problem, so I'm giving you the best description I have of their system.

If Matt's defending I bid 6.

Well done Justin. You found the top spot. The full hands are:

1 - 2

4 - Pass[/hv]

Whereas in real life our South tanked a bit and then passed. I'm sure he's seen his p's 4 rebids before.

3 not forcing? I abstain.

I only knew that bit, when my RHO said "I couldn't bid 3 as that would have been non forcing." Shrug.

If they're using such a broken system, what's the point of the question?

I think RHO forgot that his partner made a 2/1 bid. Unless you're playing a system where this can be done with less than invitational strength, a jump rebid by opener has got to be forcing.
