What is the bid you would least like to hear? A high level (4+ level) preemptive opening in a red suit ;)
Blofeld
Not sure that it could get worse than 5♥. Maybe 6♥.
Al_U_Card
Pass by CHO and then 1S by RHO. (Or worse yet, 2C by RHO.)
Chamaco
I forgot, perhaps bidding out of turn ?
Free
1NT would be the least interesting for me, 1♣ might also pose a problem for our relays when partner doesn't reverse them.
benlessard
I have the feeling that this hand isnt a 1 loser hand :) Ben
pclayton
4♥ would be ugh. 6♥ isn't too great either. Maybe a Muideberg (sp?) 2♥; likely ♥+♦ would the absolute worst. And like Mauro says, ANYTHING out of turn which bars me is bad, but perhaps an artificial 4♣ opening like NAMYATS which bars me for the auction would the absolute worst :)
mikeh
3♥ If he bids 1 anything, we're in business If he makes a weak two, we can still expect to be able to have a constructive auction to a making black suit contract If he bids at the 4-level, at least we rate to make our contract, even if he opens 4♥. 4♦: if natural, we'd raise to 5♦ and be worried about making 6 3♦: we'd raise to game with some chance of making 3♥: ugh: we could be off 3 cashing ♦ tricks and I'm willing to bet that his trump are not solid. A 2-suited weak bid such as 2♥ showing ♥ and a minor would be a close second
Blofeld
I wouldn't be all that keen on hearing "I seem to have 14 cards", either ...

pclayton
Double, we might get barred from the auction :P Double (or xx) isn't a legal call by dealer I believe; it has to be replaced with a legal call. :)
mikeh
On second thought, given recent trends, maybe the bid I should fear the most is 4♣. The questions have to be asked: what form of gerber is that, and how do I respond with 2 Aces and a void?

Partner opened 5♥!! The bid you don't want to hear, because your 1 loser hand is now absolutely useless as dummy (provided that they lead a red suit). The interesting aspect is if North would interpret 5♠ as a wish to play? He should, shouldn't he? He knows that we know exactly what he has. Anyway, cute hand from real life! Al_U_Card
So, now I want to hear the auction that starts with 1H and stops exactly at 5H......who's up fer dat? (And yes I include a Misiry auction if u like)

han
I believe pimp=good Roland, and it has little to do with cowboys. There have been several threads on what a 5H opening should be. I think the majority here voted for either preemptive or not existent. It seems that this pair had the agreement that 5H shows a hand with no outside losers and exactly two trump losers. Given that this is the agreement I agree with you that 5S should be to play (no other useful meaning comes to mind). Even though 5♥ is the bid one least wants to hear, it should give you a good score (hurray for duplicate!). It is hard to imagine a stop below slam after a 1H opening. 6S and 6C have virtually no play (the opponents have two chances to break a possible squeeze) while 5H has good chances (a heart lead is tough to find, a black lead is exactly twice as likely as a diamond lead, and even after a diamond lead there are some endplay chances). 5S seems even better. han
Good try Luis, but I don't think that the splinter bid is reasonable.
