1. Bid 4H. It could be disasterous, but that would be unlucky. It might be completely the wrong thing to do, but that's why we pre-empt.

2. Possibly double, but probably pass. You need partner to have a lot to make something, and without 4 hearts it could be messy.

Well the preempt worked, you are now unable to fully describe your hand.

I would bid 3NT now. You hold 2 tricks in , 4-5 in and since RHO (should be short) and you are short in , partner will hold a stop (I hope). If i get dbled i can still try to run to one of my 5 card suits.

You should not dbl because you can bet partner will bid , so the 2nd best shot is bidding or . is the better choice for trumps as the will make tricks anyway.

If you pass, your partner is to weak to try anything. Any hand bidding over a preempt should be very solid.

Personally I think the 5530 hand is good enough to act. I would bid 4 if playing non-leaping Michaels over 3-level preempts and double otherwise. If partner bids 3, I bid 3 and hope he figures it out. It is going to be tough without much in way of agreements. I think one either needs to play non-leaping michael's or equal level conversion here. You have so much space eaten up that the need to double and bid a single-suiter is lessened. It can easily go (3) - X - (4) - P - (P) - ? And now you are going to have to introduce your own suit at the 5-level without much knowledge from partner.
