hotShot
5♣ dbl might lead partner to bid 5♥ with 4 cards.
Free
Dbl is the least you can do, but you might be wrongsiding the contract. Opps don't need 10♠s at this vulnerability, so partner may have 2 small ♠ and a 5-level contract will be doomed. So I'd rather bid 5♣... MickyB
5♣? Yuck... If pard doesn't have a 5 card suit to bid (and sometimes when he has) he should pass, most balanced hands will be killing them in 4♠ if we have any chance at game. It is clearcut to double, and I hope to see it passed out.
bridge2k
Double. Show cards, a balance or semi-balance hand
Echognome
Double. The ♠A is likely with West, but it's not guaranteed. 5♣ doesn't describe this hand and it can easily be turning a plus into a minus. I expect partner to pass 4♠ a large percentage of the time. han
I doubled, partner had something like x KJxxxxx Jxx xx and naturally pulled to 5H. To my surprise it was the 2S opener who doubled this, and we were -200, a result that was spectacularly duplicated at the other table (it involved Justin psyching, doubling and then underleading an ace). Pass was the winning call at the table, 4S goes down 2 (but I believe that it makes if partner leads a diamond).

Yeah my partner remembered to put in the king. WDP. I did have AT so there was some safety B)
