Gerben42
Today we had this auction: 1♥ Pass 4♦* DblPass** 5♦ ** Forcing How would you now interpret: PassDouble5♥ If you want a bidding problem, partner bid 5♥ and you have KxAQxxxQxxxAx
000002
6♥, more than 50% percentage to make . example:AxxxKxxx---Kxxxx
whereagles
00002, with the hand you showed, pard passes and pulls the penalty double to 5♥ :) Anyway, the interesting thing about forcing passes is everybody agrees to play them, but then doesn't discuss what they show, lol  I myself have no clear ideas on the subject, but there's a few examples on Robson/Segal's book on how to use them. Basically they advocate something like: Pass:Offensive hand (high ODR), but would pass pard's penalty double. Usually a singleton in opps's suit, and a relatively min hand. Example for this case: AxxxKxxxxKQxx Double:Defensive values (low ODR), possibly a trump trick, chances of misfit in side suits. Example: QJxxKxxxxKQxx 5♥ bid:Offensive hand, not interested in penalizing opps, but too little for a slam. Extra trumps or shape likely. Example: AxxxKxxxx--Qxxx Pass + pull penalty double:Slam try. Example: 00002's hand, AxxxKxxx---Kxxxx As for what to do with Kx AQxxx Qxxx Ax, I'd either pass or bid 6, depending on how lucky I feel. Usually I'd pass.
