nickf
I think the new double dummy analysis provides too much information on the screen and makes it all too busy and noisy. The information it provides is great, but the cluttering of the screen is overkill. Is it possible to offer this new feature as well as the old style as well? nicksydney
fred
In the next version I can put in an option to hide the symbols and just show red/green. Sorry this didn't occur to me, but good idea - thanks. Fred GitelmanBridge Base Inc.www.bridgebase.com
nickf
I understand the license you had to use Deep Finesse was limited but using the GIB double dummy engine, are you permitted, should you want to, to display the makeable contracts on the screen? This is feature widespread in Australian/ clubs tournaments on printed hand records (clubs/ tourneys who provide this popular service have a licensed copy of Dealmaster Pro, which incorporates Deep Finesse). If so, I'd recommend the makeable contracts appear at the end of the contract. However, it would be nice for Vugraph to have it appear from the outset of the hand. By the way, for what it's worth, if GIB determines a contract can go 10+ tricks shy, the window doesnt display the 2 digits properly. nickfsydney
mrdct
I think the new double dummy analysis provides too much information on the screen and makes it all too busy and noisy.I quite like it. It would be useful in situations where BBO is being used for on-site vugraph in a commentator-less environment to only have to select GIB once for the segment. If you could do this, as soon as the auction is over the GIB indicators will come up automatically without having to reselect it each hand. One thing I have noted is that it can't cope with a contract that is going more than 9 down (although such a situation probably won't crop-up too often). Following on from Nick's other comment about displaying the makeable contracts in a similar manner to the way DealmasterPro does for printed hand-records, perhaps an indicator of the double-dummy par-score would be useful. DenisO
Apologies for posting this twice but this is probably a better place I like it - great feature! However it only seems to work with live bridge. When I try to use it on a lin file in the Bridge archive it doesn't work. The GIB button has disappeared and been replaced by the DF button which unfortunately doesn't work anymore Denis
Free
I like it! But would it be possible to remember this setting while kibitzing? Now you have to turn it on every deal...

I will make sure to get this right for the next beta version. It is possible I will get a chance to do this some time this week, but more likely it will be next week. Thanks for reporting this. The agreement we have concerning the use of GIB within BBO is not exactly written in stone (or even on paper for that matter). His main concern is that I do not allow people to play against GIB for free as this would hurt the income he makes through sales of GIB CDs and GIB licenses on BBO. So I am pretty sure Matt would approve of the use you suggest. However, I am not completely sure how complicated it would be to ask GIB the question you mention. At some point I am going to have to stop working on GIB-related aspects of BBO and get back to my other work (a shame since the GIB stuff is much more interesting and fun!). I am guessing that your suggestion will not make it into the next version. Thanks for reporting the "2-digit" problem. I will fix this at some point... Fred:Tell Matt his program is great and he might make even more money if he would do an update to GIB, there hasnt been one since 2003 :( I know I should tell him myself :)
