Enter key open chat window

Recommended Posts

When you have keyboard bids + plays enabled, the interface can be tricky when you really want to chat. For example, if you are slow typing "typ" as declarer, the opening lead might come down and your 't' be interpreted as 'play the Ten'.

Many popular on-line games use the 'enter' key as "open chat window for typing". If this was on BBO, we could always summon a quick chat window without resorting to the mouse.

Note that we could keep current behavior - if you are not about to play, any key can open a chat window - alongside this enhancement.

On the subject of the chat window...

Would it be possible to have the chat window for composing yr chat pop up a little higher on the screen? Currently it comes up at the bottom of the permanent chat window, obscuring any new messages which may be coming in while you are composing a message. Wouldn't it be more convenient if the composing window popped in just a couple of lines higher? Then you could read the new messages that are coming in as you are composing.

Thanks for yr attention.---great site!

You can currently open the chat window from the keyboard:

Ctrl+K --> Chat to Kibs

Ctrl+S --> Chat to Table (goes to kibs if you're a kib and table chat is disabled)

Ctrl+R --> Replies to the last private message you received

Ctrl+T --> Chat to Tournament (works in the tourney area before/after the event, and also during play if tourney chat is enabled or you're a TD)

There may be others, but those are the ones I frequently utilize. Not as simple as 'enter' but it lets you direct the chat which can be useful.
