Free
In a magazine a while ago I saw an auction of Fantunes where they cuebid and suddenly one of them bid 4NT which was explained as "even number of keycards ('Turbo')". Yesterday I saw them play online, also in a GF auction with fit, and they bid 5♣ (bypassing 4NT) to show an odd nr of keycards. Does anyone know how this works exactly? And is there more to it than these 2 bids?
DJNeill
Hi all, Look at the end of the Blue Team Club document by Marco Pancotti on this site. Thanks,Dan
Robert
Hi everyone I read about Turbo in Ambra. That appears to be everything. Even number of Aces bids 4NT and odd numbers just keep cuebidding. You have to decide on what you do when the other side bids, but using your standard agreements should cope there. Flame
The most fun playing turbo was when we could use it at 3NT, it was fun but i dont think its better then serious/unserius or just game choice offering.
MickyB
Cheers Daniel, just read that. Seems there might be problems working out from the 4NT/bypassing of 4NT exactly how many keycards partner has; This could often be sorted out by further cuebidding, but in turn makes it difficult to further consider outside strength and the solidity of the trump suit. Has anyone seen enough of this in action to know if it is a problem? Am just wondering about having the turbo bid lower, kickback style, and sorting out the queen of trumps just below 5 of the trump suit... Chamaco
You need to figure out how to ask the Q of trumps.Indeed many players using 3NT turbo for major use 4NT to show/deny the trump queen. In some cases Turbo works pretty well, in other cases, it leaves one player "endplayed" in the bidding, e.g sometimes, I want to know how many keycards MY PARD HAS, but I am forced to show MY OWN KEYCARDS: e.g. when pard's last cue was spades, I am forced to bid 4NT to SHOW even no of KC, or bypass 4NT, to SHOW an odd no. of KC; and there are cases where the better option would be if I could grab control of the bidding and start asking rather than continuing the cuebid interactive dialog. I like 4NT Turbo for MINOR SUIT SLAMS, with 4-level agreement/non agreement (e.g. 4NT shoes an even no of keycards, the bypass shows an odd no of keycards)
