badderzboy
Opp opens 2 Diamonds (alert)... You hold [hv=d=e&v=n&s=sak1093h98d7caj1098]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] You're playing in the UK so weak 2 Diamonds is pretty rare normally a multi 2 or a strong 2 Club opening. Over Weak 2 Majors you play Leaping Michaels and over 1 level openers you play Modified Ghestem... You create ethical problems for partner if u ask what 2 Diamonds means and then pass of course... 1. Do u ask?2. What do u bid if they explain a weak 2 Diamonds as we have no agreement (yet)...3. Do u just bid 2♠s and damn the clubs...4. Do u pass and if a weak 2 in ♥s would 4♣ now be leaping Michaels...5. Any other thoughts? Steve PS if u pass then RHO bids 3♦ and partner/LHO passes... what do u do now.. P_Marlowe
1) yes, they have alerted the bid, why should I create ethical problems if I ask?2) 2S, I am not sure the hand qulifies for a 4C bid, even if this would be leaping michaels3) yes, why not? 4) 4C can be played as leaping Micheals, even if 2D is multi, (the mayor suit is unspecified ... it is the other), for the sake of simplicity, play leaping michaels also after a weak 2 in diamond Marlowe PS: To avoid such problems, I bid 2S as fast as possible. toothbrush
I also agree with Marlowe :P I believe that you need a very strong hand for a leaping michaels, maximum 4 losers. This hand counts at least 5 or 6 losers so isn't strong enough for that.
Free
Easy 2♠, this should show some strength and 5+♠. The hand is way too weak for leaping Michaels. We can always bid ♣ later, and then partner will know he doesn't have to get enthousiast for slam :P
Blofeld
I'm asking what 2♦ means and then getting 2♠ on the table almost regardless of the meaning (think I'd bid this even if it's Ekren). I don't want to create ethical problems for partner by not asking.
