A hand from Gold Cup 2nd round. West opens a weak 2, partner doubles, East raises to 3. I sat South and inelegantly jumped to 4 which was passed out. Suggestions please for a realistic auction to get to 6. (Preferably with natural bidding or using well known conventions) Thanks.

Hmm..., don't know if I agree w/ the X holding only 2!. You pard was lucky to have found you w/ 6 -- 4H might not play too well in a 5-2 fit either given that you will be taking the taps!!!

A better bid might be 3, after which the patch to 6 is much clearer (you can start off w/ 4over 3).

Congrats on your Gold Cup 2nd round!

A difficult hand for sure!

Since you are an unpassed hand, how about partner starting with pass first?

Partner has a nice 13 hcp hand but a little unclear direction over a heart bid by you. Of course many will find passing with 2 aces and a K unthinkable. B).

Still a very difficult hand. Preempts work. Good luck.

Anyone who says they'd reach 6 in real life is either not a bridge player or is making it up (or has a strange method or is far, far better than me... both of which are quite possible, of course). I cannot imagine any rational sequence accomplishing this task. If you do come up with one, my guess is that your sequence will render other, more common, hands unnecessarily difficult.

BTW, who says that a weak 2 opener never causes problems for the opps? B)

6C is not even in my field of vision - I'd be grateful to get to game as there is a very real possibility that I could be defending 3D on these cards because my partner wouldn't double and I'd have to either find the 3H call or hoped he reopened.

2-p-3-4*

p-6

- Aren't you just a little too weak for 4? You have 5 losers, I thought you can only have 4 or less... Still I think I would choose the same.

- With a possible 2 losers you jump to 6? I guess you looked a little too much to both hands

Very difficult and are impossible to find.

It would likely go :

(2) - P - (3) - 3

(P) - 4 - (P) - P

(P)

And I'm very happy with 4  :D

Me not Joker.

I bid 4 over4 of my partner i bid 5 and then he must bid 6 if he's good :P

4 is too much of an overbid for me, sry.

This is easy seeing both hands ! :o :)
