West opens a weak 2♦, partner doubles, East raises to 3♦. I sat South and inelegantly jumped to 4♥ which was passed out. Suggestions please for a realistic auction to get to 6♣. (Preferably with natural bidding or using well known conventions) Thanks.

You pard was lucky to have found you w/ 6 ♥ -- 4H might not play too well in a 5-2 fit either given that you will be taking the ♦ taps!!! A better bid might be 3♣, after which the patch to 6♣ is much clearer (you can start off w/ 4♦over 3♦). Atul

"It's not what we don't know that hurts us; it's what we know for sure that just ain't so." Mark Twain A difficult hand for sure! Since you are an unpassed hand, how about partner starting with pass first?Partner has a nice 13 hcp hand but a little unclear direction over a heart bid by you. Of course many will find passing with 2 aces and a K unthinkable. B). Still a very difficult hand. Preempts work. Good luck.
mikeh
Anyone who says they'd reach 6♣ in real life is either not a bridge player or is making it up (or has a strange method or is far, far better than me... both of which are quite possible, of course). I cannot imagine any rational sequence accomplishing this task. If you do come up with one, my guess is that your sequence will render other, more common, hands unnecessarily difficult. BTW, who says that a weak 2♦ opener never causes problems for the opps? B)
hrothgar
I suspect that the "normal" auction will start (2♦) - P - (3♦) - ??? At this point in time, I suspct that red blooded South will bid 3♥ and the club suit will be lost
Winstonm
6C is not even in my field of vision - I'd be grateful to get to game as there is a very real possibility that I could be defending 3D on these cards because my partner wouldn't double and I'd have to either find the 3H call or hoped he reopened. temp3600
(2D) - p - (3D) - 3H(p) - 3S - (p) - 4C would get the club suit in the bidding in what I think is a realistic way. We're still far from 6C though.

Free
2♦-p-3♦-4♣*p-6♣ *clubs and a major - Aren't you just a little too weak for 4♣? You have 5 losers, I thought you can only have 4 or less... Still I think I would choose the same.- With a possible 2 ♦ losers you jump to 6♣? I guess you looked a little too much to both hands
helene_t
Yes but that's what post mortem analysis is about, isn't it?
Fluffy
I find it pretty hard, the only way I know: (2♦)ps-4♣ (♣+M)4♦-4♥4NT-5X6♣
Kalvan14
If the bidding starts (2♦)-X-(3♦) as posted by Wackojack, I would bid 4♦ [and, over the obvious 4♠, 5♣]. I don't expect that pard will bid 6♣, and I am a bit surprised by his T/O double. Unfortunately, 2♦ is one of the most obnoxious pre-empts
joker_gib
Very difficult and ♣ are impossible to find. It would likely go : (2♦) - P - (3♦) - 3♥(P) - 4♥ - (P) - P (P) And I'm very happy with 4♥ :o Alain

P_Marlowe
Hi, be grateful to have reached game,I would have passed with the North hand, and I would not have bid 3H over 3D. In other words, they would have played 3D. Marlowe PS: Reaching 6C without enemy bidding will be hardenough, there area lots of ways to stop.
