Without the Double I have a 2 bid, however the value of K has become somewhat suspect. I don't like bidding 1NT with a singleton but here partner can see that the Doubler will have some so he will be cautious about choosing them as trump, so here goes.. 1NT.

Assuming you're not playing weak notrump, isn't 1NT a pretty big underbid? This is a pretty decent 16-count, with the T and a five card suit; I'm not going to mislead partner by showing 12-14 flat.

I'd bid 2 here, second choice would be 2.

2C. I would never reverse with a hand this weak (stiff spade and only 16), and I would not rebid 2D with a medium 5 card suit. 1N which is 2 points heavy and wrong on shape seems like a huge distortion. This leaves a weird 2C on a 3 card suit. I will feel reasonably well placed if partner does anything but pass, and if I play a 3-3 maybe I'll make :P It will probably be better than 2D in the 5-1. If he passes into a 4-3 it's not a disaster.

I also like the 2D bid as the suit is not so bad and it is the smallest distortion of my values. I hate my hand in the rounded suits because of the double but since LHO is short in D, the missing D cards s/b with east so it may not be so bad. They may well have an 8 card S fit and never find it if I bid 1NT (but 1NT is so wrong that it borders on masterminding.)

Don't forget to vote, friend !

I'm still alone at 2, LOL

I was anticipating a much wider consensus on this hand. IMHO, the keys of this hand are LHO double (I'd be allowed to assume it is for the majors), and pard's lack of redouble (which does not limit his hand, but excludes a balanced or 3-suiter hand stronger than 9 HCP).

I consider this hand a borderline reverse (5 losers, good concentration of honors in my suits and good controls), and I'd certainly rebid 2 in an uncontested auction. This time I choose to rebid 1NT: it is a distortion in shape, agreed, but I've a couple or three HCP in my pocket to compensate it. It is an eminently practical bid: it leaves everything open for pard to rebid, and might be a nice trap too for opponents if they try to compete at 2-level.

At the table, 1N bought the contract (and playing MP, I agree with his decision not to rebid 2).

Pard had a minimum hand (JTxx, xxx, KJxx, Jx), but it brought the card I needed.

With a lil help from defense, I gathered 9 trick (which was a shared top). 8 tricks are there, in any case, and would have scored better than an average plus. The best oppos fit was obviously in spades (4-4), but was effectively sterilised during 1st round of bidding.

I can understand rebidding 2c and not 1nt on this hand. Easy hand to not reverse on.

Perhaps the one spade bidder has the real debate hand. I would bid 2D for 3 reasons; lousy spade suit, lousy shape and few HCP.

In any event your bidding won the hand even though it seems if 8 tricks make in nt for 120 you can make 10 tricks for 130 in D?

Hearts are 4-2, and the A is with LHO. There were a couple of 4, though.

N has to make his decision, you're right. At IMPs, it would be a no-brainer: 2 stands out. At MPs, the decision should be for a pass: his 2 black Js carry far more weight in NT than in a diamonds contract (and the lure of 120 is there  ).

2C, leaves partner the most room to further describe his/her hand, and leaves me an invite if i choose to use it.
