Gerben42
[hv=d=w&v=b&s=sxhaxdkqxxxxcaxxx]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] Three passes to you. 2♦ would not be natural.
Kalvan14
I would still open 1♦. Full opening values, and a game is not out of the question. For all that I know, pard is 4-4 in the majors, so I would not be unduly worried. Chamaco
I open 1♦. I risk driving opps to a major suit partscore making, but against that, there are 2 alternative scenarios for a decent score: a. it's our hand, pard has a limit hand, and with this hand I'd gladly accept a game invitation b. it's a partscore hand, and I would not mind competeing to 3 diamonds, when I hope that if they compete with 3M they'll go down (after all, they did not open 3rd seat) All in all, I consider the odds of bidding better than putting all the eggs in one basket and passing. whereagles
If I can't open 2♦, then I open 3♦. In 4th seat this is constructive, 10-15 or so.
joker_gib
I simply can't pass that. 1♦ Alain
Blofeld
Count me in for 3♦.
Chamaco
Count me in for 3♦. I think 3D is better used for a gambling-type hand, with better intermediates than this and at most one outside control. In my opinion, a normal, full opening with a minor can be simply opened 1m, even if the minor is KQxxxx.
Robert
Hello everyone I like to upgrade hands, but this one is still a 1D opening bid. I open 1D and rebid 2D to suggest a long suit. Pretty well describes my hand. Regards, Robert
Fluffy
I would open 1♦. At IMPs pass comes to mind as well.

mike777
1D =14 Pearson points, plus upgrade for honors, plus upgrade for 6-4.
mikeh
This is a good example of why some of these 'Rules' that we hear so much about are only guidelines. The Rule of 15 would suggest passing, but I doubt that you will find much support for that point of view here or in real life. I would prefer to bid a slightly heavy (because of the controls) 2♦, I am not unhappy that our methods prevent that. 1♦ would be a very close second choice, and may well be a better bid anyway so 1♦ it is. Change my hand to 1=3=5=4 or (worse) 1-3-4-5 and I begin to have doubts, but a decent 6-4 gives me lots of reason to believe this is our hand. Nothing in life comes with 100% guarantees, and opening could be the route to a minus score, but experience suggests the pecentages favour bidding.
