hrothgar
ICK!!! I bid 3N will very little convinctionI'd very much prefer a third heart for this bid

inquiry
DBL or 3♠... dbl if we play Thrump doubles here.
whereagles
Very difficult decision... 3NT is the practical bid, but will turn out wrong reasonably often. Double is the most flexible bid, but will leave pard with a headache on many hands and if he happens to bid 4♦, he'll buy a very disappointing dummy. 3♠ is also a good bid. It will be playable opposite most hands, and after all pard can still have 6 spades. Not easy. I'd bid any of these options depending on who pard is and how the match is going. For instance, if pard is a weakish player, 3NT is in order. If he his trigger-happy, then double. If he's a sound bidder, 3♠. If I need points, 3NT. If I need a swing, double. Etc... :)
SchTsch
3NT but not happy about it.
luis
3NT if we are doing well, 6♣ if we are not.
Fluffy
Double seems the correct rhing to do.

Finch
3NT. might go horribly wrong...
han
I said 3NT when Matt asked me this question earlier. I'm not sure I like the double. (to clarify: I really mean that I'm not sure, not that I'm sure I don't like it)
Al_U_Card
Hmmmnn, LHO has yet to speak and pard is limited to 15 hcp, you say? You have 22-26 hcp and 3 quick D losers......will 3H make? (It is matchpoints and plusses are good and -140 is better than -300 so I vote for a nice pass......come what may. Kalvan14
3N. It's a gamble, agreed. IMHO, it is a reasonable one ;)
luke warm
i'd pass also... if partner reopens, i guess i'd try 3nt
Gerben42
Bocchi's rule: Always 3NT. Game try.
Echognome
[hv=d=n&v=n&n=sa98xxxhjxdajxcxx&s=stxhaxdxxxcakxxxx]133|200|Scoring: MP1♠ - (3♥) - 3NT - All Pass[/hv] Like many of you, I bid an unhappy 3NT and played there. LHO lead the ♥Q and my only hope of getting any tricks was that hearts were 7-2 and clubs 3-2. I ducked the first round and a small heart came back to the J, K, and my A. I then lead a low club (as had no entry!) and West hopped Q. He then played the ♥10! Huh? That held of course, but he had blocked the hearts. He returned a club and I ran all my clubs. They lost their way in the end game and I was able to make a 2nd spade trick for a very unlikely game.
pclayton
I wouldn't have opened your pard's hand Matt. I think you have the right to expect a little more when you try 3N.

I think you have the right to expect a little more when you try 3N. 1 ♠ is fine opening bid. This is why Thrump double is good idea. With ACES, and with no ♥ stopper, north has two options. Pass the thrump double (partner has clubs after this double after, given our diamond holding). Rebid a non-forcing 3♠. Surely 3♥ is at least one off (2♣, 1♦, 1♠, 1♥) and might be two off (if ♦KQ with LHO, and RHO has three clubs).
Fluffy
I wouldn't think of anythign but opening 1♠ with that cards. After X-p-3♠-p I would bid 3NT. And I wouldn't blame partner if he left me there.
Guest Jlall
I wouldn't think of anythign but opening 1♠ with that cards. hehe, I wouldn't think of anything but pass. Different strokes for different folks I guess, but I still have not been convinced that opening 6322 hands with 10 points and a stray jack and a terrible suit is winning bridge. This hand has done nothing to convince me of that either.
