JSilver
From a recent ACBL tourney on BBO: [hv=d=w&v=b&n=s2hdakqjckqjt9876&w=s9hk932d87532ca52&e=saqj654hj865d6c43&s=skt873haqt74dt94c]399|300|Scoring: IMPP-2C-2S-X3S-P-P-X4D-4NT-P-5DP-6C-P-6HP-P-P[/hv] Result: 700 E-W This was not the worst result on the deal for N-S. One North declared 6♦x for -1100. At my table, North opened 4NT and rebid 6♣. This gave him not quite a 2/3 shot, since the slam can be set on this layout even if the major-suit aces are exchanged. matmat
for me all calls after 2!C are bad, with 2!S being the least offensive. i refuse to pick one on the grounds that i despise them all.
Chamaco
It's hard to agree with many of the bids here LOL, but the 4NT bid was quite a shock !
Blofeld
I quite like a 4NT opening on the north hand. It goes wrong when partner has the heart ace exactly, but otherwise works nicely, and may steal the hand from opponents. The actual auction is atrocious, and the 4NT call is beyond belief. bearmum
I am assuming that 2♣ was game force?? then S first X -- awful (unless it shows points AND Hearts ?)W 3S unbelievable !! WHY not just PASS 2♠X??N PASS over 3S is :P :D :P  BID ♣s surely? ALL the rest are "unreal" bids SO to summarise -- ALL bids after 2♣ seem equally silly to me :)
Gerben42
Well let's rate all the bids from 0 to 10. 2♣: 3 - How often should I tell people that opening 2♣ is only done on defensive hands? 4NT asking for specific aces might work here but this comes up once in a lifetime and 4NT for the minors much more often. 2♠: 10 - Bid ♠ when you have them. Gotta love this one. Dbl: 10 / 3 (depending on meaning) Should be penalty and pass forcing I guess. At IMPs don't worry about the difference between 1400 and 1430. Partner should have the rest of the goods for his 2♣ (also see 2♣) 3♠: -5 on a scale from 0 to 10. Who wants to live forever eh? Live fast, die young, leave a pretty corpse. Pass: 0 - Gee I have only 8 Clubs let's pass. Pass: 10 - Nothing left to do here Double: 10 - La vita e bella :D 4♦: 1 - I give it one point because it saves partner from the disgrace of having to go for a telephone number. 4NT - 0. Although you might think they would run, still not bidding ♣ is terrible. Will 5♦ - 10. I have 3 more ♦ than ♣, trust partner not bluffing West here. 6♣ - 5 True it is better than ♦ but endplayed myself by not bidding them before. 6♥ - 10. Partner has ♣ and ♥, obviously. Fluffy
I dunno what 2♣ is, if it is not natural then it is probably very wrong. But then, someone bid 4NT with a void when opps were in 500. Maybe 4NT was a psych bid trying to deveive opponets. That would make 6♥ the worst of all. Winstonm
Worst call was the pass over 3S. The only reason to open 2C is because of the club suit so it needs to be shown. Bidding 4C over 3S should show the nature of this hand - one suited with c-l-u-b-s. Winston
Al_U_Card
Playing DOPI over interference, Pass and not double shows an ace.
P_Marlowe
Pass of 3S. Sry, do you you eally want to defend 3S? Why not bid 4C Marlowe
Al_U_Card
W 3S unbelievable !! WHY not just PASS 2♠X?? He may be encouraging S leads to get a ruff (if they end in NT or 3S dbld, pard will never bid his H suit (which south will happily double)

JSilver
I vote for 4NT, since it gave up the last chance for a plus. North knows 4♦ is ridiculous, and partner is screaming that 4♠ will be no better. Against that, North's hand is primarily offensive, but with misfits around the table, why look for uncertain prospects at a higher level? Even 5♣ turns out to be too high. Perhaps best of all, the pass over 3♠, which many questioned, now seems to have worked out well. The opponents have generously offered a bounty--I'd give double thanks. I'd rate West's 4♦ a close second. It made his previous dubious call worse, while giving North a chance to make his previous dubious call better. luis
I vote for West's initial pass.
