FD Co-Czars Appointed

I am very pleased to announce that Inquiry and Cascade have been put in charge of the project to create and maintain the BBO library of stock convention cards and stock conventions (in FD-file format).

 

These guys already spend a remarkable number of hours volunteering in various ways to help make BBO a better place. I am sure I am speaking on behalf of a LOT of BBO members when I say "thanks" to Wayne and Ben for all they do.

 

I believe that the FD project has potential to be "the next big thing" in online bridge, but in my opinion its success will depend largely on the quality of the stock files for common systems like SAYC and 2/1. I am confident that Wayne and Ben are up to the challenge, but they are going to need the help of our membership (in particular, the sort of people who tend to read Forums) for this project's potential to be fully realized.

 

That is because the Czars' primary jobs will be management and quality control - in terms of creating the actual FD-files, they are going to need a lot of help.

 

The co-Czars will soon be forming teams of volunteers to work on the creation of various stock FD files. If you think you might be interested in helping, please e-mail inquiry@bridgebase.com and/or cascade@bridgebase.com

 

Although Uday and I are likely to discuss various FD-related issues with Ben and Wayne on a regular basis, the co-Czars have been given complete latitude in terms of how to organize and run this venture. We will respect whatever decisions they make, so please don't complain to Uday or me if you don't like the way things are being handled.

 

Thanks again to Wayne and Ben for undertaking this important mission. Thanks also to the many other people who have been involved in experimenting with FD (and hopefully will continue to do so as part of our FD-file creation team!).

i have to add that im waiting also to have feed back about the french standard system that i started to do so if there is any french people willing to use "majeur 5ieme" and let me know wrong things that i migth have written pls let me know , im willing to continue but not rigth now ... what i did already took me some times , i had a break so little time to do it , now its not the same ...

BBOITA's is the name of the standard bbo system based on the sytem most used in Italy. (5th mayor - opening 1 diamonds with 4+ cards). At the moment there is a pdf file on www.bboitalia.it written in Italian and also the .bss file is ready (also this in italian). Our plan is to make as soon as possible an english version of both of them. I have already sent Uday a copy of BBOITA's bss file and will send this evening a copy of it to inquiry and cascade. Nemeo (a FIGB teacher that cooperates with BBO ITALIA has hardly worked on it); we are now preparing bss file of most common conventions that could be merged with BBOITA's main system.
