It's possible to miss a game by passing, but the range of hands for partner where game can make but partner wouldn't act over 3♣ is actually rather narrow. Suits are also breaking badly for us, so even games which seem "normal" on our combined hands may tend to go down. On the other hand, there are quite a number of hands where partner has an easy pass and RHO has an easy double of any action we take, and we go for a four-digit number at IMPs.
