I agree with my bids in the auction. I can't say yet whether I agree with pd's bids. Declarer's bidding sucks. What I do disagree with is playing the 9 of C as encouraging/discouraging - this is silly when pd needs to tell me what to switch. Pd has 5 C for the jump to 3 and about 10-11 points. We know 5 of them are the KQTxx of C. We need to take 1 trump, the A of H and another. If I lead a trump, declarer can rise A (if he has it, ruff a D ruff a C to hand and ruff another D.

How I defend depends on whether I am playing with a strong or a pick up pd. In the latter case I am playing a low H in case pd has something like

Qx Kx xxxx KQxxx. After he wins the H he can get a trump promotion. If I were were playing with a strong pd however I would expect him to play the Q of C on the A with this holding. With a H s/t he would play the K

Now I have to play him for Kxx or Ax(x) of S

No doubt you are going to say pd had 4C to the QJ9 and unless I play K of D and then a S through, declarer will pitch the losing D on the K C. Well if I play with people who bid 3C on that 4 card holding, I think I need another partner.
