No 4 is not splinter in support of hearts. It establishes trumps and is forcing. You have a ruffing value (diamonds) and a fit, cue-bid 4. I read the other thread with this hand by the way, you would have had trouble with the director I think.

Partner's 4C shows a massive hand and requests we cue bid a second round control (assuming 2H meant we cannot have a first round control).

I'm not sure what "total negative" means, but I imagine I cue bid 4D.

If I'm playing in a pick-up partnership, it's more likely that partner is frightened I'll pass 3C, and I probably just raise to 5C.

I wouldn't play partner to have splintered in support of hearts unless he didn't alert the 2H bid. And then I'd expect to have the score adjusted later.

I agree with everything here, except the last. If partner did not alert 2, I am still stuck with my agreement, and thus must bid 4. I do not think that taking advantage of the non-alert is correct, even if I am planning on calling the director afterwards myself.

This presupposes that I had a legitimate basis for thinking that we had the agreement that 2 was negative. If I had just been guessing, then I am in an even worse pickle... but I still don't think that I am going to change my bid because of the failure to alert.

I say "Yikes, I need to buy cigarrettes"

Then I stand up and hurry to the door and they will never see me again...

Seriously what the heck is 4 ?

yes Luis,yikes

what the heck is four clubs?

Now i assume when opening 2 followed by 2/2, then bidding 2/ is still forcing to at least 2NT.

Now if partner bids 3/3 over negative responses shouldnt it still be forcing to 3NT at least?

So this would tend to rule out 4 as being better than 3?

And two suiters arent really suited IMHO for opening 2
